Troy Aikman Drops Bombshell Take on Mahomes vs. Brady: Who’s the Real GOAT

In the ongoing debate over who holds the title of greatest quarterback in the NFL, Troy Aikman is making his stance clear. Speaking on The Dan Patrick Show, the Cowboys icon expressed his objection to Patrick Mahomes prematurely replacing Tom Brady as the GOAT.

Aikman stressed the importance of championships in determining greatness, drawing inspiration from his experience winning three Super Bowls with the Dallas Cowboys. Mahomes, he believes, is on an impressive trajectory, but he needs more championships to enter the conversation.

“I don’t like to say that Patrick Mahomes is the greatest quarterback of all time. I mean, I don’t know how you can say that at this stage of his career. He’s definitely on pace.” Aikman commented.

Aikman’s insight into what it takes to achieve greatness in the NFL extends to what Mahomes will need to do to catch Brady. According to him, winning seven or eight championships would be the ultimate measuring stick, acknowledging the high bar set by Brady with his seven Super Bowl wins.

“Troy Aikman is right. Tom Brady has set the bar high. Patrick Mahomes knows this better than anyone and he acknowledged it during opening night of Super Bowl 2024. But if there’s anyone who can come close, So that’s Mahomes,” the article concludes. The door was left open for Mahomes to potentially challenge Brady’s unprecedented success.
